Potdeksel in Overijssel

The house that we were assembling in Overijssel is finished, that is: we still have a few outstanding items to do such as replacing the threshold under the frontdoor and there are a few more minor details, but the owner has accepted the house, and has moved in. Kitchen has been installed, bathroom is done, floor is finished, solar panels are on the roof, it is a real house now.

But what has not been done is the garden. And the rest of the terrain around the house. Since the owner wanted the house to be raised 20 centimeters above the ground, now the area near the outside doors also has to be raised. Part of the street also must be raised, some 80m3 of extra earth has to added (about 10 trucks). That means two manhole covers for the sewer system (“putdeksels”) need to be raised, and maybe part of the sewer system.

So keep this in mind when you decide to raise your house. It looks nice, but don’t forget the manhole covers…
